Floral Layout with Altenew...

Hi! I am back with another layout I made using some of my favorite Altenew products. I was, of course, inspired by the A Year In Review Sketch Challenge 2019 on the Altenew Scrapbook Blog.

This time I went with the Sketch Challenge #15.

I used both the sketch and the colors as inspiration. Kindly excuse the poor quality of photographs as I am traveling and ended up editing to photos on my phone.

I started with a piece of Ivory cardstock and created the rainbow with different sets of Altenew inks. I used all for shades in each stripe.

Here are the completed stripes.

Next I matted the photo with shades of blue paper and added the date and place.

At this stage I felt today the layout looked a bit 'empty'. So I added some splatters with gold acrylic paint, to tie in with the hold embossing. To create the floral arrangement, I stamped the outline images of the flower from the Peony Bouquet stamp set and the leaf from the Beautiful Day stamp set. I heat embossed the images with Rich Gold embossing powder by Wow! and die-cut them with the coordinating dies.

After arranging the die-cuts in a pleasing way, I adhered them with glue as well as foam tape.

Here is the final layout again.

Scrapbooking With Stamping...

Hi! I am here today with something new. I tried my hand at scrapbooking and I really enjoyed the process! I used to do lots of digital scrapbooking but hardly did any physical layouts. I was inspired by the A Year In Review Sketch Challenge 2019 on the Altenew Scrapbook Blog.

I selected the Sketch Challenge #17 for my first layout.

I used only the sketch as inspiration and went for a more monochromatic look, with shades of pink and red. Here is my layout.

I used the outline images from the Beautiful Day stamp set by Altenew for the stamping. Here is a closer look at the stamping.

The top left corner of the layout is above and below is the top right corner.

The sentiment was made by combining the Big World stamp set by Altenew for the stamping and the Inline Alpha die set for the die-cutting. To add more interest, I stamped the leaf from the Beautiful Day stamp set on the paper before die-cutting the alphabets. Here is a closer look.

I layered the alpha die-cuts to add more dimension. The location and year were handwritten. Here is another look at the layout.

I really enjoyed the process and the whole layout turned out exactly as I had envisioned. I would love to know what you think of my first attempt.

Pretty in Pink n' Green...

Hi. The card today is totally inspired by the May 2019 Inspiration Challenge by Altenew. 

I love the green, pink and grey combo. Here is my card.

I started with the banner in the background. The technique was inspired by a watercolor card by Kristina Werner. You can find the original post and video here. I just adapted it for the Altenew Artist Markers and used light shades of grey and green. Once the coloring was done, I cut it with the Fishtail Banners die by Itsy Bitsy. I also cut a larger mat out of grey card stock. Here is a look at the banner.

I inked the card base with Hickory Smoke distress ink and added some grey and black splatters. I adhered the mat to the card base and added the background popped up on foam tape.

The flowers and leaves were stamped and die cut using the Japanese Mums Build-a-flower set by Altenew. I used a mix of Altenew, Memento and Mai inks. I arranged them over the banner and then adhered them using glue and foam tape. Here is a closer look at the arrangement.

The sentiment is from the Sweetest Peas stamp set by Altenew. I just love the fonts used in this set. I heat embossed it on a strip of black paper with Vanilla White embossing powder by Wow!. Here is a closer look.

I just love this card! The Japanese Mums set is one of my favorite BAF sets and I had fun trying different color combinations. I have a bunch of flowers ready to go and I am looking forward to converting them into cards.

The Flower Challenge #39 - Use A Die:

Beautiful in Grey & Pink...

Hi. I am here today with a card that I made out of two flowers that I colored as part of the 30 Day Color Challenge. I stamped the flowers and leaves from the Beautiful Day stamp set by Altenew and colored them with my Altenew Artist Markers. Here are the two flowers I colored, using shades of red and pink.

And here is the card I made with the two flowers.

I die-cut the flowers and the leaves and set them aside. I took a strip of white cardstock and used the Artist Markers to create a plaid design. Here is a closer look at the plaid.

I covered the plaid with some vellum to tone it down and then adhered it to a dark grey card base, popped up on foam tape.

The sentiment is from the Fresh Freesia stamp set by Altenew. It was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed Metallic Pastel Pink embossing powder by Wow!. I arranged the flowers on the card and then added a few leaves to compliment the cluster. Here is a closer look at the flowers.

To finish, I adhered everything in place and then used a corner rounder to round the bottom corners of the card. Here is another look at the card.

I really love the way this card turned out. The grey and pink combo is one of my favorites and I love the little peek of the plaid behind the flowers.

Garden of Flowers...

Hi! I love reading books. Though a lot of my reading is on Kindle now, I still love the feel of a real book. And I always need bookmarks as I hate dog-earing my books. Here is one that I colored as part of the 30 Days Coloring Challenge hosted by Kathy Racoosin of The Daily Marker blog. 

I used my Zig Real Brush markers for the coloring. I started with a piece of watercolor paper and stamped the flowers from the Spring Flowers stamp set by Simon Says Stamp with Versmark Onyx Black ink. I colored directly with my markers, without using any water as I wanted really intense colors. Here is a closer look at the coloring.

After the flowers were colored, I added some grey in the background. This was where my problems started. The water seeped into the flowers and smudged the outline. I allowed the paper to dry completely and fixed the problem by simply running the Jet Black Artist Marker by Altenew over the outlines. This effectively covered the smudged areas and also gave my images a bold outline.

Rainbow Card Challenge - Regal Rainbow...

Hi! I can't believe it is already December. The year seems to have flown past really quickly! I am here today with the final challenge for 2019 at the Rainbow Card Challenge. Here is the inspiration pic.

Rainbows always bring a smile to our faces! There are so many different ways of interpreting this challenge, I am really looking forward to checking out our gallery.

For my inspiration, I went with simple watercoloring combined with die-cutting.

I started with a piece of watercolor card and used the Kokoyu Camlin Artist Watercolors to make a simple rainbow background. Once the paper was dry, I die-cut it using the Banana Leaf Card Front die by Spellbinders. I adhered the die-cut to a dark brown card base. 

I die-cut the frame out of the same paper and covered it with Versamark. I used Ranger's Metallic Copper embossing powder for the heat embossing. The sentiment was die cut with the Tag Talk dies by My Favorite Things. To make the sentiment pop more, I inlaid the background under the tag. Here is a closer look at the sentiment.

I popped up the frame and the sentiment with foam tape and adhered it to the card. To finish, I added some clear jewels from my stash. Here is another look at the completed card.
