Altenew May 2022 Lovely in Lace Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in total prizes)

Hi! I hope you are enjoying this blog hop! You arrived here from the blog of Hussena Calcuttawala. I have really become hooked to the Altenew 3D embossing folders! I love experimenting with different mediums with the embossing folders and discover the different looks I can achieve!

Card #1:

One of my favorite things to do is to create backgrounds and then spice them up using the embossing folders.

I used the Soft Pastels mini ink cubes directly to paper and created a grid background. I placed the paper in the embossing folder and used a brayer to apply black ink to the raised areas of the folder. When I ran the folder through the die-cutting machine, I got this rather retro looking panel.

The sentiment is from the Fresh Freesia stamp set.

Card #2:

I love the Cherry Plum Blossom 3D Embossing Folder! I combined it with the Tropical Fiesta Watercolor Markers for a soft and delicate card.

I first applied the Frayed Leaf pigment ink to the embossing folder with a brayer. After running the folder through the die-cut machine, I heat set the ink to avoid smearing. I used the Purple Wine, Crimson, Sunkissed and Sweet Leaf to apply color in the depressions and sprayed lightly with water. I ended up with pops of color in the flowers and leaves, exactly the look I was looking for!

The sentiment is from the Fresh Freesia Stamp set.

To finish, I lightly inked the Geometric Botany Background Stamp with Moss ink and pressed it on the embossing folder before running the panel through the die-cutting machine. I just wanted to add a little texture to the background.

Card #3:

I love using pigment inks with embossing folders. The results are always unexpected and beautiful.

I simply scattered some green and yellow pigment powders on a piece of watercolor paper, sprayed with water and ran the folder through the die-cutting machine.

The sentiment is from the Fresh Freesia Stamp set.

Card #4:

I used a fun technique that you can do with pigment powders.

I took a piece of watercolor paper and dropped small amounts of pigment powders along one long edge. I used green, yellow, red and turquoise powders. Then holding up the paper horizontally at eye level, I sprayed with my spray bottle. The force of the spray causes the powders to blow away and the water causes them to release their pigment creating very artsy effects.

I applied embossing ink to the flat portion of the embossing folder and ran the dried panel through it. I heat embossed the panel with clear embossing powder and then inked it with the Moss Crisp Dye Ink to make the butterfly stand out more.

The sentiment die is from the Calming Cluster Die Set.

Card #5:

This last card was a bit of an afterthought.

I scribbled with the Purple Wine, Crimson and Sunkissed markers from the Tropical Fiesta Watercolor Markers set on the Motif Tile Embossing Folder. I ran the panel through the die-cutting machine after spraying the folder with water. I repeated this process couple of times till I was happy with the results. After drying the paper, I rubbed some Antique Gold wax on the raised areas with my finger tis to make them stand out. The sentiment is from the PAF Gerbera Revolutions, heat embossed with the Rose Gold Embossing Powder.
