CSCC #16 - No Line Coloring

Hi! I am back with my DT post for the Create Something Catchy Challenge. This month the challenge is

No Line Coloring

(You can use any medium to color your images!)

I was quite foxed when the challenge was announced, since I have never tried this technique before! I went to through several video tutorials, and this is what I came up with.

I started with a piece of white card stock and stamped the flower from Fiskars - Petals from Scratch set with distress ink Scattered Straw. I colored the background with Scattered Straw, Peeled Paint and Amazon Trail which is part of the new Artistry distress inks by Shilpi Crafts. 

Then I came in with Scattered Straw, Picked Raspberry, Peeled Paint and Rusty Hinge for the flowers. I distressed it further with some water and had my very own DP!

I loved it so much that I didn't want to waste even a small bit. So I decided to make two cards.

For the first card, I simply cut a small strip and adhered it to white card stock. The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter - A Tree for All Seasons set. I stamped it with the Amazon Trail distress ink. Some stitching lines with a white gel pen finished the card.

For the second card, I trimmed the remaining piece of my DP and adhered it to the card. I also cut a thin strip of paper and heat embossed it with some pale pink EP by Wow. The sentiment is from PTI Phrase Play #11 mini stamp set, again stamped with Amazon Trail.

CSCC #15 - CAS Cards

Hi! The theme for this months Create Something Catchy #15 is CAS cards based on the following image.

You can take inspiration from the colors, elements etc of the image.

I was very inspired by the flowers and the soft color palette.

I used ivory card stock as the base and stamped the flowers with black Versamark ink. The stamp set is the Flowers set from Itsy Bitsy. You can check out another card I made with this stamp set here.

I colored it using distress inks, a first for me. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to achieve a good look with these inks!

Both the sentiment stamps are custom made. I designed them and then got a local guy to make them.

New Technique...

Hi! I am back with a card which I made as part of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge. Though I have been painting almost everyday, I have managed to do very few complete cards. This is one of them.

I used some red handmade paper as the card base and stamped some butterflies with Versamark ink. Then I heat embossed with black EP. I used some household bleach to 'paint' the flowers with a regular paint brush. The sentiment is from Bo Bunny and stamped on a piece of cream paper.

I would describe my style as Clean & Graphic. I was very inspired by the collage of butterflies and the embossed outlines.

30 Day Coloring Challenge - Day 5

Hi! Tried a new technique today and it worked beautifully!

I stamped the images in Versamark and embossed with clear and gold embossing poeders. Then I simply colored the images with some household bleach! The tutorial is available at the Stamp TV site. You can check it out here.

30 Day Coloring Challenge - Day 4

Hi! Still managing to keep up with the 30 Day Coloring Challenge. Though my coloring mojo was seriously missing today! Just managed to do three backgrounds, which I will use for cards later.

All are done using the Camlin Photo inks.

Thank you card...

Hi! Recently a good friend got a whole bunch of crafty goodies for me and I decided to make a card for her using some of them.

I started with a piece of watercolor paper that I had colored. I stamped the outline flower from the LJD Circle Scribble Flowers set by My Favorite Things in Versamark and heat embossed in white. I trimmed it to size and mounted it on a dark brown card base.

The sentiment is from the Agapanthus Thank You set by Stampendous and heat embossed in white.

Before mounting the stamped piece, I wrapped shaded brown embroidery floss towards the top a few times. I fussy cut a single flower and two green leaves and placed them over the floss for some added interest.

I also decorated the inside of my card with some simple stamping.

CSCC #14 - Mixed Media

Hi! The current challenge at Create Something Catchy Challenges is to create a Mixed Media project inspired by the image below.

I was very intimidated when presented with the task of making a mixed media project. My style is very CAS and I have never tried my hand at mixed media! So I turned to Pinterest for help! And ran into hundreds of gorgeous projects, all of which scared me further! So I started researching and trying various techniques that I could incorporate into my card.

Two things really caught my attention - the big, bold, red umbrella and the muted, blurry Eiffel Tower in the background. I decided to focus on them and this is the result.

I started by stamping a script stamp with distress ink on a piece of white card stock. Then covered it with diluted fabric glue and pressed a crumpled piece of tissue paper over it. Once dry, I had a lovely, textured background ready!

The flower was made from the same paper. I die cut around eight circles from the same tissue paper and dyed them in two shades of red using Camlin Photo Inks. While they were still wet, I stacked and stapled them and then crumpled each circle to make a bud. Once the layers were almost dry, I gentle pulled them apart and shaped them a little.

I covered the center with a large, green, glass bead. The leaves were die cut with a Sizzix die.

I added some rope for a more rustic feel. The sentiment is from Altnew's Persian Motifs set. I stamped and heat embossed it in black.

I certainly enjoyed my first attempt at mixed media and learnt many new things in the process!
